Blueair’s CLAIM to Diminishing PM10 and PM2.5

Information is presented best when done in a methodical manner, which in turn, entails providing the definitions first. Therefore, without further delay here they are:

PM10: A degree of measure used for measuring the size of small particulates causing air pollution. Mathematically, a polluting particulate measuring PM10 is 10 micrometres or less in diameter.

PM2.5: A degree of measure used for measuring the size of fine particulates causing air pollution. Mathematically, a polluting particulate measuring PM2.5 is 2.5 micrometres or less in diameter.

Also known as coarse dust particles, PM10 pollutants are produced from crushing or grinding activities and the most prevalent one among them is conventional dust – something, that gets produced with every wheel plying the road.

Visible only with an electron microscope, PM2.5 pollutants are produced from combustion of all types – some examples include the combustion processes within automobiles, power plants, forest fires.

It goes without saying that our health is largely impacted by these pollutants. There are many diseases that can take place upon exposure to these pollutants. Some examples are heart and asthma attacks, irregularity in heart beat and reduced lung function, irritation in the eyes, nose and the throat, coughing, compression of the chest and unwanted contraction and even death.

Gwalior, Allahabad and Raipur have been termed to be the cities with the maximum amount of PM10 pollution as per a recent survey. Another survey held in 2015, termed Delhi, Patna, Gwalior and Raipur as the cities with the maximum amount of PM2.5 pollution.

The reason which is attributed behind the findings of both surveys has been the lack of awareness among the people of the country. Thankfully, a company called Blueair has stepped forth with its array of air purifiers, in addition to its aim to achieve pollution-free air within Indian homes and throughout Indian skies. Mr. Vijay Kannan, the chief of Blueair India – the Indian wing of Blueair – has been instrumental right from day one. One of his notable endeavours has been the launch of the Clean Air India Movement (CLAIM) – an awareness campaign aimed at increasing the awareness level of Indian masses with respect to air pollution – both indoor as well as outdoor.
